Ardamata is a neighborhood located on the northwest side of El Ge-neina city, near the SudaneseArmed Forces 15th Infantry Divi-sion camp. It was originally established as a refugee camp in the aftermath of the early 2000s violencein Darfur.

On 8 November 2023, Ardamata became the site of a horrific massacre.The Rapid Support Forces(RSF) and allied Arab militias, following the withdrawal of SAF troops, attacked the neighborhood and camp, killing between 800 and 2,000 civilians, mostly from the Masalit ethnic group, and injuring around 3,000. In the aftermath, approximately 20,000 people fled toward Chad. We honor the memory of those killed in the Ardamata massacre.

We have gathered names, ages, and fragments of their stories from testimonies, survivor accounts, and community records. In some cases, we are also able to share photographs of the victims, so that their faces and lives are not forgotten.
